_THE BAND

Rock.

Make way to ÓCIO’s originality.

Formed by Daniel Furlan (vocals/guitar), Rodrigo Larica (bass/vocals) and Patrick Preato (drums/vocals), the Brazilian trio currently lives in London.

ÓCIO found in late 60’s rock and early 90’s punk influences the appropriate soil for Furlan’s sarcastic lyrics, and in 2006 the band launched its first album, MOOD SWINGS, produced by Sergio Benevenuto. While many of their contemporaries are too busy searching for the perfect outfit and carefully messing their hair, ÓCIO's show and album can easily be translated in one word: rock

The lyrics are hypochondriac and sour reflexions. Matters such as the pleasure in giving up one’s goal or the freedom found in not being loved by anyone, receive a nerd/loser approach by Furlan’s nasal voice, accompanied by Larica and Preato’s constant backing vocals.

MOOD SWINGS aims to preserve the kind of energy ÓCIO releases in it shows, in uncommon arrangements, with blues-rock riffs in a punk mood. However, the result is neither blues or punk: ÓCIO mixes rock n' roll with rock n' roll, no mush.

Rock.

---------------------------------------------

Daniel Furlan (vocals, guitar): born in Vitória, Brazil in 1980 – also doubles as a cartoonist at his independent magazine QUASE. Furlan already has an extensive enemies list in his hometown. Physical threats and law suits moved by religious leaders, politicians, entrepreneurs, former members, ethnic minorities and other musicians are no longer news in his life since the magazine is known for its politically incorrect views. To say the least.

Lacking funds to start the production of Mood Swings, Furlan used the money his family had set apart to buy his braces and moved to Birmingham, England, where he worked as a canvasser, a janitor and a kitchen assistant. He returned to Brazil with the money for the album, a whole new repertoire and his teeth still crooked.

Rodrigo Larica (bass/vocals): born in London, England in 1980, he moved to Brazil as a child. He’s one of the founders of Casa Alta (a house/studio where he, Furlan and some musicians of other bands used to live and work). Larica is the most experienced of the three members of ÓCIO, having played for many years in big bands of jazz and blues.

Patrick Preato (drums/vocals): born in Vitória, Brazil in 1979– before he started playing with ÓCIO he played in many bands of the local punk scene and is well known for his brutality with the drums. Preato’s excessive vigor caused constant problems during the recording of Mood Swings, for the sessions had to be frequently interrupted to substitute broken pieces of his equipment. This happens very often during ÓCIO’s gigs. Patrick Preato
